Teen suffers from traumatic brain injury after car accident

When car accidents involve pedestrians, the consequences can be catastrophic. Accidents have been known to cause traumatic brain injuries. Pedestrians are completely vulnerable because they have no protections from the impact of an oncoming car.

A California teenager was walking in a crosswalk when she was struck down by an oncoming motorist. The accident occurred at the beginning of January, and thankfully she is back home now.

However, the honor student and clarinet player suffered many injuries in the crash, including broken bones in her left leg and her pelvis, leaving her unable to walk. Neither can she talk, because, along with the broken bones, she also suffered traumatic brain injuries. While the broken bones in her body will heal over time, her brain may never completely recover from the traumatic brain injuries she suffered.

Of course everyone who knows this young girl is hoping and praying for a complete recovery. Time will certainly help to alleviate her pain and give her body and brain time to heal and recover. Hopefully this teenager will make a complete recovery from all of her injuries and that she is not left with lasting damages other than the memories of the hard work she has and will continue to endure. In the meantime the mounting medical bills are a sign of the extent of the severe injuries she sustained in the crash.

This story is important for California drivers because it highlights the serious risk of harm that pedestrians are placed in whenever they are involved in an accident with a motor vehicle.
