Man and child killed in fatal Los Angeles car crash

Two people died in a recent car accident in Van Nuys. The victims were a man and a child riding in a sport utility vehicle that was struck by a big rig. The force of the accident caused the SUV to rollover.

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, the individuals who died were a 37-year-old man and a 6-year-old child. A lieutenant from the coroner's office said that they suspect that the victims were father and daughter, but they have yet to verify this fact.

A California Highway Patrol officer confirmed that the collision happened at approximately 12:45 p.m. on 405 Freeway, not far from the on-ramp for Sherman Way. As a result of the crash and subsequent police investigation, it was necessary to close the five lanes of northbound traffic on the freeway. As of 5:39 p.m., the lanes were re-opened.

The deceased individuals were not the only victims of the crash. Several others suffered non-fatal injuries from the collision, including two children. These additional victims received treatment for their injuries at local hospital. Three people from the big rig also required hospital care. At this time, authorities are not certain what may have caused this fatal car crash.

Whenever a car crash results in the death or injury of multiple people, there is a high likelihood that the incident could result in a personal injury lawsuit. In such cases, it is important that Los Angeles residents refrain from signing any kind of agreements with insurance companies relating to the crash without first consulting a legal representative.
