5 injured in serious Westwood crash

A violent car accident left five people injured in Westwood last Saturday. Two of the individuals were in critical condition, police said. The accident happened just after 3 a.m., when a motorcyclist t-boned a Nissan Sentra.

According to Los Angeles police, the driver of the Nissan Sentra was attempting a left turn, when the collision took place. One witness told reporters that he saw what happened from his window and went outside to help. He said that a young person was in the passenger side of the backseat going into shock, and the motorcyclist was on the ground. The motorcyclist eventually regained consciousness and tried to get up.

Four college students were riding in the Nissan Sentra. They were on their way home after getting a bite to eat. All of them and the motorcyclist were rushed to the hospital after the incident. As of last reports, the motorcyclist and one of the occupants of the car were in critical condition.

Another witness said that the motorcyclist passed him at a high rate of speed -- so fast that he wasn't sure the motorcyclist could make it over the hill. As the witness got over the top of the hill, he saw the unfortunate scene of the accident. Police investigators are trying to determine exactly how fast the motorcyclist was driving at the time of the collision.

If it is determined that a Los Angeles driver was speeding prior to a collision happening, it could lead to charges being brought against the driver. Such evidence could also prove important for injured parties if they wish topursue compensation for the cost of medical care and other damages stemming from the incident.
